He has been playing guitar, bass and piano since he was a child and has taught professionally since 1993. Jay has had students that have gone on to college, won awards at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, teach professionally, and play in nationally and internationally recognized bands.

Believing that you should “practice what you preach”  Jay continues to play music professionally and has played and toured with numerous bands, most notably: The Platters (only you, the great pretender), The Wankin’ Family, Darkhorse, Mystery Train, and others.

Jay has been playing and touring as David Gogo’s bass player since 2001,and appears on 4 of Mr. Gogo's  CDs “Live at Deer Lake” , “Vibe”, the Juno Nominated "Soul Bender" and his Holiday Cd, "Christmas with the Blues"
Jay also plays upright bass for special David Gogo acoustic shows.

With an extensive background of live performing Jay has and continues to play in bands that have headlined festivals, appeared on national T.V. and opened up for bands such as “George Thorogood, Buddy Guy, Little Feat, Paul Brandt, Patricia Conroy, Johnny Winter, and many more…

When not touring with David Gogo, Jay can be found in many different  local bands playing either Bass, Guitar, or Keys (or in some cases all 3!)

His musical influences are very diverse and he is knowledgeable in many styles of music including: Classic Rock, Blues, Rockabilly, Country, Folk, 80’s Rock, Punk and more.

His large student base and years of experience keeps him up on all the latest bands and music trends, so if you want to play like your favourite band, Jay can show you how.
